Nature and discovery school trip in Dordogne

Day 1
Morning: Arrival at Cadouin.
Lunch at your expense.
Afternoon: Orienteering course: equipped with map and compass, students have to find their way around the forest and collect information to discover the secret resource that made the monks of Cadouin so rich. 3km forest trail.
Dinner and overnight at HI Cadouin youth hostel.
Day 2
Morning: Breakfast followed by a 4km hike in the Vallée des Beunes.
Packed lunch.
Afternoon: Visit to Commarque castle.
Dinner and overnight at HI Cadouin.
Day 3
Morning: Head for the gardens of Limeuil for a “Health and hygiene through plants” treasure hunt (discover the virtues and uses of plants since medieval times, make a potpourri…).
Packed lunch.
Afternoon: Still in the same garden, a presentation on beekeeping, bees and their role in the garden. One embossed wax candle per student.
Dinner and overnight at the youth hostel.
Day 4
Morning: Breakfast at the youth hostel. Visit the Castelnaud castle: Discover the site, the village, the fortified castle and its museum of medieval weaponry.
Packed lunch.
Afternoon: Canoeing on the Dordogne Valley.
Dinner and overnight at the youth hostel.
Day 5
Morning: Breakfast at the youth hostel, followed by a guided tour of Cadouin Abbey, with students playing the roles of key characters.
Packed lunch.
Afternoon: End of stay, return by bus.
