The youth hostel La Bastide Petra Castellana is located in the south-east of the medieval town of Castellane, a stone’s throw from the hiking trails of the Verdon. In the heart of the National Geological Reserve of Haute-Provence, located between the Alps and the Mediterranean, the town of Castellane is a terrestrial paradise. Finally, this Provencal town is located at the door of a sublime treasure : the Gorges du Verdon!

Castellane seduces by the nature and the atmosphere of the south. On the Verdon river, you will be introduced to local sports activities and to the pleasures of swimming. Then, along the river, horseback riding, walking or biking are possible to discover the treasures of the region. In particular, beautiful panoramic views are to be discovered on the way to the Notre-Dame du Roc chapel. At 2,3 km, discover the Pentagonal Tower located in the Regional Natural Park of Verdon. This tower dominates the city and is the most imposing of the entire fortification system. You can’t miss it ! Finally, you can visit many craftsmen: producers of honey, ewe’s milk cheese or soap!
